The Early Morning Phone Call That Changed Everything
My Own Experience: Years ago, my parents were visiting relatives on the West Coast, and one early morning, my phone rang. It’s not every day you get a call before the sun rises, and the moment I saw my Dad’s number on the caller ID, I knew something was wrong. It turned out that my Mom had fallen, hit her head, and lost consciousness. Given her age and a head injury, she was admitted to ICU to recuperate from the concussion. What could I do besides worry?
Action: Having access to my Mom’s email and password proved beneficial in rescheduling their travel arrangements. I also had contact details for their close friends who took care of their home and collected their mail during their absence. Additionally, I was able to contact my Mom’s primary care doctor to schedule an appointment for her upon her return. Finally, I located a physical therapy center to treat the concussion and balance issues my Mom developed as a result of her fall.
The Value of KEY Information: Having access to my parents’ email information, frequent flier number, neighbors’ names and numbers, and my Mom’s primary care doctor’s name and number proved to be more than just helpful – it was invaluable.
